To apply for Naturalization most people must meet the following requirements |
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have had permanent residency for five years.However if you obtained your green card through marriage to a U.S. citizen, the requirement is only three years.
- You must have resided within the state where the application is filed for at least three months
- You must have been physically present in the United States for at least half of the five or three year period mentioned above.
- You must not have left the country for one continuous year during the five or three year period.
- You must be a person of good moral character
- With some exceptions you must be able to understand the English language and have a knowledge and understanding of the history, and of the principles and form of government of the United States
